As part of the Open Artists Studios down in Whanganui, March 2014, 35 artists from around New Zealand were each given an old school chair. The resulting exhibition saw a wide variety of interpretations and concepts. My entwining, soft sculpture was called ‘Subsume’. It referenced both a present and absent body and hinted at the gut-churning anxiety often experienced during our formative years.
